snow day!

All my Southern friends have been out for days because of the snow, but in NYC-- 'snow days' are just that: days with snow. No one rushes out to buy batteries or bread.. it's just a regular 'ole day of trekking through the mess to get wherever you are going. But yesterday? we finally got a real snow day! I think we got around 11-12 inches last night, so we all got the day off from work and school! It was only the 8th time that NYC public schools have been closed since 1978. Wild, huh?

The roomie and I ventured out to play. We live across from Thompkins Square Park, so we walked right out of our wardrobe door and into Narnia a magical, snowy wonderland!

I'll let you guess who won that snowball fight.. (hint: Amy is a bad-a rugby chick. When I "played" softball, I picked flowers in the outfield..)

I still can't get over all the snow.. at one point it came up past my knees. I've become used to this, but today was a little out of the ordinary. I was slipping and sliding everywhere..(I may have faceplanted at one point).

I love this picture.. whether it's snow or sunshine- we have the cutest street. I think my favorite thing about snow days here is that life sort of slows down. Cars aren't flying, cabbies aren't honking.. people are walking at a slower pace and stopping to take it all in. It's a really rare and special thing.

Our snowman! Cute, huh? I kept going on and on about how big it was and Amy was dying laughing.. she couldn't believe that I thought this was 'big'.. difference in Northern and Southern kids, I guess!

Such a fun break from the usual chaos.. back to clients and casenotes today. BOO!

Hope you're staying warm,
lee
