giving thanks

JohnDavid's 'Thanks Turkey' - Thanksgiving Day 2010

Overwhelmed with THANKS for:

* the fact that I have not one, but TWO beautiful church families to 'do life' with. Most people in this city don't have one place to call home.. I've been that person. Now? I have two. Both passionate, and servant-hearted, and real.. both BEAUTIFUL.

* a safe, comfortable, warm apartment. In my line of work, I am ever aware of the unsafe, uncomfortable living situations that people are enduring in this City.

*  the gift of a beautiful, life giving sisterhood here.

* an amazing opportunity to serve and learn at NAC

*  a strong support network in Alabama. Their packages, phone calls, emails, and letters have brought encouragement that sustained me on the hardest days.

*  a supervisor that lets me cry and laugh and scream and allows me room to process what I see and feel each day.

* a roommate that understands my OCD and need for order--  and likes me anyway.

* the fact that the cross town bus stops outside my door. You have no idea how much of a blessing this is!!

* for the little man at my local grocery who carries my groceries home. Those things are heavy!

* for a school that has challenged me, inspired me, and shaped me. I wake up excited about learning.. nerdy, but true.

* the surprise 'just thinking about you' checks that my grandmother sends me in the mail.. that money always comes right on time.

* for the fact that I've only seen two rats on my street. (Just keeping it real)

* my clients... they humble me and force my focus and keep my life in perspective.

*  a mom and dad and a brother who keep me grounded and keep me laughing.

My heart is full and my cup truly runs over.
